Thor 2 Set Photos

The first photos have surfaced from the set of the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel's 2011 Thor, which started principal photography yesterday. 

Chris Hemsworth is looking divine as everyone's favorite hammer-wielding superhero who's about kick some major butt as he and his fellow Asgardians go up against Marvel baddie Malekith, the ruler of the Dark Elves played by British thesp Christopher Eccleston.

The first day of filming also saw Taylor coordinate a battle scene featuring actress Jaimie Alexander in her role as Asgardian warrior Sif. Despite a bloody cut to her forehead, Sif was filmed riding her horse through a host of golden-armored soldiers, sword held high and poised to strike.

Some long tunnels in London will be used for the filming of scenes oh Thor 2. "A long tunnel is a long tunnel, though, and when it’s dressed it could be anywhere. But a good long shot, down a real, long tunnel can’t be easily faked on a soundstage."

So it seem sound to assume that a character or characters in the film will be spending a fair amount of time underground. If so, this would lend credence to the rumors that the Dark Elves will figure in Thor 2 as villains. In the comics, those characters live in Svartalfheim, which is one of the Nine Worlds, and is certainly known to have caves, caverns and an underground dwelling or two.

Stellan Skarsgard has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Dr. Erik Selvig in Thor 2. In an interview with Hey U Guys! for the Norwegian film King of Devil’s Island, Skarsgard said that he would join the production when it starts filming in August.
In addition to Skarsgard, Thor 2 will also see the return of Idris Elba as Heimdall and Jaimie Alexander as Sif, among other key cast members. One notable exception: Chuck‘s Zachary Levi may replace Josh Dallas as Fandral, one of Thor’s trusted Warriors Three.

Thor 2 The Dark World is a superhero film produced by Marvel Studios. It is a to the sequel to 2011's Thor and the eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alan Taylor is set to direct a screenplay by Don Payne and Robert Rodat with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston reprising their roles from the first film. Thor: The Dark World is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2013.

 Kevin Feige revealed that filming has already started in London for Thor The Dark World. He revealed that Thor 2 will start from the events of the first film in respect to the character of Natalia Portman evolving their relationship and romance. Loki is not the main villian in Thor 2 as he was the main villian in Avengers and Thor 1. He will be a part of the film though. Chris will have a Viking Look.

Zachary Levi as Fandral

Marvel Studios has tapped Chuck star Zachary Levi to take over the role of Fandral in Thor 2. Josh Dallas originally played the Asgard warrior, but network obligations with ABC’s original series Once Upon A Time rendered him unavailable to continue the role. Production is scheduled to begin on the sequel in July, featuring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins.
